New Delhi World Book Fair 2023 to Commence on February 25

France will be the guest honour country at the NDWBF 2023

The New Delhi World Book Fair (NDWBF), which has been absent for the past three years, will soon make a physical comeback, according to a recent announcement by the National Book Trust.

Over 1,000 publishers and exhibitors from over 30 countries are anticipated to attend. On February 25, the festival is scheduled to start.

Due to the epidemic, the book gala had to go online when the festival's last physical edition ended in January 2020.

The book expo will include 16 French writers, including Nobel Prize laureate Annie Ernaux, and more than 60 publishers, literary agents, and cultural ambassadors under the banner of "Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav," the topic of the event.

"We can observe that French people are becoming increasingly interested in Indian literature today. India and France are two significant literary nations. Many visitors are coming over from France. Our most recent Nobel laureate, Annie Ernaux, oversees the delegation of writers. France is the nation that has won the most Nobel Prizes in literature globally, with 16 laureates. "During a news conference, Emmanuel Lebrun-Damiens, cultural adviser at the French Embassy, remarked this.

Other authors, he continued, would include children's author Susie Morgenstern, Simon Lamouret, a creator of graphic novels, and feminist author Camille Laurens.

The theme pavilion will host many literary and cultural events to commemorate India's 75th anniversary of independence, according to NBT director Yuvraj Malik.

"There will be more than 750 books about liberation warriors and the national cause on exhibit in English and all the leading Indian languages. To commemorate the anniversary, book and picture exhibitions, panel talks, book launches, cultural events, and workshops will all be organized, "added Malik.

Participants from G20 nations will be housed at a separate pavilion at the NDWBF.

In addition to the nine-day literary festival, there will be more than 50 cultural events, including open mic nights, Army and Police band concerts, discussion shows, and folk performances.
